Margaret Hill (1906-1959)

As transcribed by Scott Hill, her brother:

"My sister Margaret Hill (Stedman) grew up mainly in Reno, graduated from the University of Nevada, and taught school at the tiny town of Lamoille near Elko. She had a brilliant mind and seemed to inherit some of both father's and Grandpa Hill's ability to identify plant life. After she married James Stedman they lived in the East but the Depression of the 30's created a devastating situation for them. They moved to the northwest amid several bad set backs, and eventually Jim became a very successful builder in the Palo Alto area. In spite of somewhat poor- health, Margaret took part in many community activities along with raising three children (a fourth died when born). But she survived all the tragedies except the final cancer in They shared a place up on Fallen Leaf Lake and their family had many happy summers in the Sierra and all the near by lakes. Her children all turned out exceptionally well."
