THOMAS MIDDLETON I was born 1676-8 in Charles County, Maryland. He died shortly before 4 Jan 1745 when his estate was appraised. He was married (1) c1702 to Penelope, daughter of William and Mary Hatton.

Thomas rendered valiant service to the couny against the Indian disturbances and was appointed Captain of Rangers of Prince George's County (1698). He was engaged in the building business and was awarded the contract to enlarge the Broad Creek Parish Church at Piscataway. The contract price was 16,000 lbs oftobacco. In the parish records he is recorded as a vestryman from 1706 to 1733. 

Thomas died intestate. His personal estate was appraised on January 4, 1745, with the approval of Holland Middleton and Thomas Middleton asthe kinsmen and Francis goodrick and James Middleton as the creditors. William Middleton was the administrator. No accounts with the court have been found among the archives, so it is not known if all of his children were living at his death or if any of his daughters were married at that time.
